Ric Sanders Trio

To conclude our period of 16 years of promoting ‘live music in Lowdham’ we wanted to invite back artists who have featured strongly in the history of ‘Warthog’. We drew up a short-list of four and are delighted that we were able to sort dates for a ‘double double-bill’ featuring all of the artists, two playing at each of our two principal venues on successive days. Please note that both concerts will start at 7.30 pm as opposed to our traditional start time of 8 pm.

Our second double-bill features the Ric Sanders Trio and Ranagri. Ric and his trio played the very first concert back in September 2005 so it is fitting that they should bring down the curtain as well. Since 1985, Ric has played full-time with Fairport Convention but has continued to take an active interest in jazz and other musical forms. He has collaborated with June Tabor, Andrew Cronshaw and Martin Simpson among others and also recorded solo albums and a violin tuitional introduced by Jools Holland. His session credits include Roy Harper, Jethro Tull, Strawbs, Pentangle, Gerry Rafferty, Loudon Wainwright III, Robert Plant, The Fureys, and Ashley Hutchings among many others. With him in the trio are Vo Fletcher and Mike Gregory. The group performs a wide repertoire of blues, jazz and swing and recently has recently released its new CD, ‘Headspace’.

Ranagri are the ‘new kids on the block’ in our line-ups. They first visited us with Tony Christie playing ‘The Great Irish Songbook’, since when they have returned for two stunning shows in the Old Ship.  Ranagri are a combination of Irish and English musicians; Dónal Rogers (Vocals/ Guitar), Eliza Marshall (Flutes/ Whistles), Ellie Turner (Electric Harp) and Joe Danks (Bodhrán/ Guitar). Since forming in 2013, they have recorded three studio albums,  with their latest record ‘Playing For Luck’ released in January 2019. Ranagri have performed at Birmingham Symphony Hall, Fairfield Halls, The Union Chapel, Buxton Opera House and Camac Harp Festival in France to name a few. They also happen to be lovely people!
